The rooftop pool and bar looked cool, but it was booked out for private parties all the nights we were there, so we couldn't go up. The mirrors are fish-eye style and the lighting is set "stylishly" dim (not really bright enough to read by) so it's a pain for the ladies trying to do any makeup before going out in the evening. The sink area was another issue- there is no counter to set your toiletries on. The showers were nice and hot, that was a plus. The bathrooms were constantly out of toilet paper on our floor. The security lockers are large enough to fit a iPad, but not large enough to fit a laptop. Our whole dorm joked about this alot because it's so awkward. Also an oddity, if you are given an upper bunk, you are essentially sharing a bed with whoever shows up next to you, and if they roll over, they will be on top of you. And since the bed construction is concrete, you just have to be really careful as you scramble Between the blocks and celing to get into the crib-like bed (we had a million bruises from this too). The beds look cool, but we were constantly hitting our heads on the iron beam in the ceiling every time we climbed up/down the ladder. You won’t soon forget swimming on the rooftop of a historic building in the center of Mexico City.īottom line: worth it, and why? If architecture and design are your thing and you like the hustle and bustle of a central tourist zone, this hotel is certainly worth the money.A friend and I stayed a long weekend at this hostel for her birthday. and order a bite to eat.Īnything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking-whatever stuck with you. Room service: Worth it? Room service is available 24 hours a day, so feel free to roll in at 2 a.m. What’s the word? Internet is free throughout the hotel. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. But the bathrooms are not that private, so take note before you share a room with that co-worker you barely know. Earthy terra-cotta tones reminded me more of a beach resort than city hotel (in a good way). Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. Bigelow bath amenities and design magazines. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? I loved the C.O. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. They got us? Reading lights and chargers are within easy reach of the large bed. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. In some rooms, terra-cotta brickwork divides the bedroom from the bathroom in the trademark style of Habita hotels. The original period features combine with modern furniture in a really thoughtful way. The 17 rooms are spacious, with tall ceilings and large windows. What’s the crowd like? While I was staying, there was a party on the terrace filled with beautiful, trendy people. Then I reached the modern-looking restaurant, juxtaposed with old-fashioned brick walls, and it became clear that Downtown was a design hotel through and through. How did it strike you on arrival? As I walked up the large stone stairway to the entrance of the 17th-century manor turned hotel, a huge mural caught my eye.
